Paula Amy Hewitt BA (Dist.), JD, CRM, CIPM, CIPT, CIPP/C heads the Regulatory and Governance Solutions team at First North.  She is a regulatory specialist with a unique combination of 20-years legal, governance, regulatory compliance, and capital markets experience.  Having held executive roles within Canadian and Multinational financial services and other public companies, Paula has a proven track record of applying her diverse subject matter expertise to deliver solutions that address complex global regulatory requirements while efficiently facilitating business outcomes across multiple regions.

In addition to her law degree and experience, Paula holds several industry-related qualifications. For her legal work, she has been recognized for Administrative and Public Law by Best Lawyers (2025), as one of the Top 200 Psychedelics Lawyers in the World (2025, 2024, 2023) and one of the Top 50 Female Leaders in Toronto (Women We Admire, 2022). She serves on the IFIC Legal & Compliance Issues Working Group and previously served on the CIRO (then IIROC) Ontario District Counsel and its registrations subcommittee, the IIAC’s Derivatives Committee, and the IAPP Canada Advisory Board. 

Paula founded the Toronto Travelling Gourmets Dining Club and sits on the Board of Governors and Regional Board of Directors for Ontario of Portage Drug Addiction Rehabilitation Centers. Paula also sits on the Board of Directors of Caldwell Investment Management.
