John Packwood is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the First North Group, which comprises First North Consulting and the Securities Industry Data Exchange, commonly known as the SIDE Industry Platform. He is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the companies, with a dedicated focus on expanding the range of products, enhancing services, and forging sustainable partnerships. John has played an integral role in all projects undertaken by the firm since its inception, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and innovation. He began his career at the Canadian Depository for Securities (part of TMX Group), where he served as a trusted advisor to the CEO, particularly on critical initiatives aimed at integrating business operations with technology solutions. Prior to founding First North, John held the position of Vice-President in sales and trading at reputable firms including Fidelity National Information Services, Goldman Sachs/NEON, and Numami Securities. Born in Windsor, Ontario, John now resides in Blue Mountain with his wife, Nicole, and their son, Marshal. He has contributed to numerous industry projects, including a significant Canadian government-funded research collaboration with the University of Toronto focused on Green Energy. Additionally, he is currently engaged in partnerships for regional development in East Africa, as well as pursuing technology innovation initiatives in Vietnam. John is also an esteemed speaker who has presented at various forums, including IEEE, MaRS, and the EUSN organized by the Government of Canada.
